Description

GHK-Cu (Glycyl-L-Histidyl-L-Lysine Copper) is a naturally occurring tripeptide found in human plasma, saliva, and urine. It has a high affinity for copper (II) ions, forming a complex that is essential for fundamental physiological functions.

In the research community, GHK-Cu is often referred to as the “genetic reset” button. Studies by Dr. Loren Pickart and others have demonstrated that GHK-Cu can modulate the expression of over 4,000 human genes, generally shifting them to a younger, healthier state. While plasma levels of GHK-Cu drop significantly with age (from ~200 ng/mL at age 20 to ~80 ng/mL at age 60), exogenous administration is investigated for its ability to restore these levels and drive systemic tissue repair.

• Dermal Regeneration (Collagen & Elastin): GHK-Cu is the benchmark for skin research. It is investigated for its ability to stimulate the synthesis of Collagen (Types I and III) and Elastin, as well as the production of Decorin. Research models suggest it can tighten loose skin, improve elasticity, and reduce the depth of fine lines by remodeling the extracellular matrix.

• Wound Healing & Anti-Inflammation: The peptide is heavily researched for its potent anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to accelerate wound closure. It works by suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as TGF-beta and TNF-alpha) while simultaneously increasing the activity of antioxidant enzymes like Superoxide Dismutase (SOD).

• Hair Follicle Stimulation: Studies suggest that GHK-Cu may stimulate hair growth by blocking the effects of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) on the follicle and increasing the size of the hair bulb, making it a primary subject of research for androgenic alopecia.
